Facing an exciting period of growth, they are seeking a smart, energetic and experienced Lead Machine Design Engineer to join their team in Melbourne, VIC
About the role
Reporting to the New Product Development Manager, you will be responsible as the lead designer for the mechanical design and development of control systems for clients across the world.
Liaise with Branches, Customers and Operations during the preliminary design stage to accurately determine the customer requirements from a technical perspective
Making accurate cost estimates, writing engineering reports, and interpreting plans and specifications
Prepare the detailed time estimation and financial analyses in support of project
Lead the engineering team during the design stage to ensure design concepts are followed
Prepare necessary support documentation for project, to aid the installation of product using set technical and process standards
Ensure compliance to standard quality design procedures particularly such areas as stage gate, lean design, FEA, FMEA, DFM/DFA and similar procedures
Lead process improvement activities to deliver safety and production efficiency in a manufacturing environment.
Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, preferable in electrical/ electronic, mechatronics or mechanical engineering
Proven comprehension of design principles and their application to machine tool design
Demonstrated experience with international standards (CE)
Demonstrated experience with DFMAS
Preferred experience in working with robots at integration and programming level
Proven skills in NX or other CAD/CAM systems
Excellent personal presentation skills to all types of people
Ability to think methodically, prioritize and follow up on multiple tasks
